How to report an incident or emergency

Public Safety personnel swiftly address all reports of suspicious activity and emergencies on campus. There are several ways to report crimes and emergencies occurring on campus to the Department of Public Safety:

  1. From hard-wired campus telephones in offices, dial ext. 4444. From a cell phone or public phone, dial (610) 330-4444.
  2. Use the emergency “Blue Light” telephones situated throughout the campus and parking decks. Pressing the red button automatically connects you to the Department of Public Safety.
  3. Use emergency/convenience telephones mounted outside all campus residence halls. An emergency button connects you to the Department of Public Safety dispatch center while identifying your location.
  4. Report in person to any Lafayette College Department of Public Safety Officer.

For off-campus crimes and emergencies, dial 9-1-1. When placing an emergency call, provide your location, required assistance (police, ambulance, or fire), your name, and a callback number.

For medical emergencies:

The Health Center treats minor medical issues during regular business hours. For life-threatening emergencies, call Public Safety or 911. Public Safety can dispatch an ambulance and notify the College physician.
