10 TIPS FOR DEALING WITH GRIEF & LOSS
- Remember there is no "right way" to cope
- Understand that people experience a variety of emotions &
there may be emotional highs & lows
- Give yourself permission to grieve & express your emotions
- Be patient with yourself - recognize it takes time to heal
- Seek support from friends, family & loved ones
- Take care of yourself - eat well-balanced meals, get plenty of
sleep & exercise regularly
- Write down your thoughts - especially if you are having trouble
sleeping
- Do not attempt to numb emotional pain with drugs or alcohol
- Try to avoid making major life decisions or taking on new
responsibilities
- Create ways of remembering your loved one
